Red Carding Racism
We were delighted to welcome a representative from Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) into school to deliver an engaging workshop for our Year 7 students.
The session encouraged pupils to think carefully about racism, stereotyping and unfair judgement. Through discussion and activities, students explored how stereotypes are formed and how they can influence attitudes and behaviour. Celebrities and sports stars were used as examples to help pupils recognise that people we admire may come from very different backgrounds, cultures and life experiences.
Our Year 7 students engaged positively throughout the workshop, showing maturity and thoughtfulness in their responses. They took part in meaningful discussions and shared insightful ideas about how to challenge stereotypes and promote respect. Pupils were also encouraged to reflect on their own role in tackling racism, both in school and within the wider community.
Show Racism the Red Card is a national anti-racism charity that delivers educational workshops and resources across the UK, using sport and positive role models to challenge discrimination. We are grateful for the opportunity to host this workshop and proud of how our students approached such an important topic.
