No Bystanders to Bullying
Last week in assemblies, Mrs Johnston spoke to students about the importance of not supporting bullying in any form. There was particular emphasis on not allowing damaging rumours and hear-say to spread. Often bullying and conflict can spring from the ‘he said, she said’ mentality that pupils can pass among themselves. Mrs Johnston reminded students that baseless rumour spreading is not healthy to a social environment and can be damaging to individuals and friendship groups alike. The assembly lined up with new displays and posters around school designed to inform students about what to do if they are victim to or witness bullying. This included the concept of ‘no bystanders’ where students are encouraged to challenge any bullying behaviour they see and flag any issues they or their peers may be having with an adult.
