Cutting County Lines
Last week, our Year 7 pupils took part in an important awareness session led by representatives from Northumbria Police, focusing on the risks linked to County Lines activity in our local area.
County Lines is a term used to describe organised criminal groups who move illegal drugs across the country using dedicated mobile phone numbers, often known as “deal lines”. These networks frequently target young people and vulnerable adults, pressuring them to carry drugs or money. Officers also explained the concept of “cuckooing”, where criminals take over the homes of vulnerable individuals and use them as a base for illegal activity.
During the session, pupils learned how these groups operate, how to spot the warning signs, and practical ways to stay safe. The officers also shared advice on what to do if they are worried about a friend or someone they know.
The session played a vital role in raising awareness, encouraging pupils to look out for one another, and helping them make safe, informed choices.
