Understanding an Enigma
On Thursday 1st February Mrs McKinnell and ten Year 10 students were invited to spend the morning at Enigma Interactive. Enigma is an award winning digital development agency based in Newcastle; they design and build websites, online services, apps and eCommerce systems. When they arrived they had a presentation about the different projects they have recently been working on and some that are still in development. Once the presentation was complete the students were set a design challenge which linked with their GCSE coursework, they were able to show teamwork, creativity and leadership skills.
The students presented their ideas to the room and received feedback from the Enigma team. The second challenge was Python programming, the students were worried at first but they all did amazing at showing resilience and problem solving; especially when they found out there would be a prize for the winners. Isabel and Charlotte were the lucky winners in the end by one point, winning a Bluetooth speaker each. The students were able to experience a workplace first hand during a tour of the building after the activities. They all represented the school fantastically and we had a wonderful morning.
