Shaping the City

Just before the end of term we took a group of students from Years 7 to 10 over to the Sunderland City Hall Chambers for the Youth Voice ‘State of the City’ Debate, and they were absolutely brilliant. After prepping their arguments on the minibus ride over, it was so rewarding to see them getting stuck into the discussions with other schools. They didn’t shy away from the microphones at all, making some incredibly mature points about the need for teen-only gym times, cheaper local sports clubs, and the pressure of university fees on young people. It was a fantastic morning of local democracy in action, and they were a total credit to the school. It was nice to see the Trust come together, there’s power in numbers!
