Sand, Sea & Surveys
Last Wednesday, those Geographers who were unable to attend the fieldtrip at the start of the Autumn term, completed their fieldwork. They travelled to Robin Hoods Bay where they completed a land use survey and measured the beach profile. It was interesting to see the difference in the area from September to now. Shops were closed and only opened on a weekend this time, which only strengthened our investigation into if tourism impacts the land use for locals in the area. After walking a two mile detour due to coastal erosion, students fully engaged themselves in completing their primary data collection. We did managed to stop off for some fish and chips, which were well deserved after a very muddy, but fun detour back. The mini bus on the way home was exceptional quiet – the sea air and walks certainly tired them out!
