After qualifying in December at the Sunderland School Games indoor rowing competition, Ava McCully (Year 7) represented Sandhill View at the Tyne and Wear indoor rowing finals. Ava competed against 18 other Year 7 girls from Sunderland, Gateshead, Newcastle and South Tyneside. She won her heat and came second overall, rowing a total of 478m in 2 minutes, just missing out on the gold medal by 14 metres! Ava also represented Sunderland in a team relay where the team also took second place. She has now been selected to represent the area at the regional rowing finals.
