Routes into Medicine

Last week a group of 16 Year 9 students started their courser ‘Routes into medicine’. This is a course run by Sunderland University to raise awareness of careers based on medicine and health related courses. Students received a seminar from medic students at the university where they learnt about human anatomy and understood the many uses of the stethoscope. The students were fascinated by the models and enjoyed usage all of the resources. They then played a game of bingo where they had to understand examples of diseases and symptoms on the body.

We were incredibly impressed and felt very proud watching our students engage with this session. They spoke so fluently about the science they have learnt in school and were able to apply it to these new situations. It was an honour to work with them. The medic students really enjoyed working with our students and commented on how respectful they were to visitors. We look forward to seminar two in March.
