Last week we commemorated Remembrance Day in assembly. This year’s theme is ‘Service’ and Mrs Jobes encouraged all students to think carefully about the different ways in which we can serve our country whether that be being a part of our armed services, police or fire brigades or working in our NHS. Our head students also spoke on the topic as well as reciting the poem ‘In Flanders Field’ by John McCrae. The assembly was closed by our academy choir who gave us a rendition of ‘photographs’ by Ed Sheeran accompanied by a poignant slideshow of images of members of our armed forces in service to their country.
