Our students were put through their paces during our Careers Focus Day last term. During the day, all lessons focused on the application process from searching for the dream job through to completing the application form.  Our students even applied for some very interesting ‘historical’ jobs, shall we just say the application was for a personal assistant to the king! Language skills were thoroughly challenged as students applied for jobs in French and German. Fitness levels were tested in PE as students found out whether they were really fit enough to pass the army fitness test.

As well as the application form, students also discovered the different types of interview they may have to go through in the future. Science, maths and DT challenged the students’ analytical and problem- solving skills in a series of psychometric tests. The interview itself was not overlooked either and students had an opportunity to try out some interview techniques as well as discuss how best to conduct themselves in an interview. Students were very enthusiastic about the day with many saying it was inspirational and that the more prepared you are, the better you will do.
