On Tuesday 2nd December a group of Year 8 students were chosen by Mrs McKinnell to take part in the Cyber First Trailblazers workshop within school. During the three workshops students took part in a range of IT based activities and discussed the career routes in the tech sector. The students showed excellent resilience throughout the sessions, especially when introduced to new technologies.

The first activity required students to use problem solving skills, logical thinking and lots of resilience. The task was to use data in a spreadsheet and research skills to find the patient zero within the records provided.

The second activity required technical skills, creativity and attention to detail. The task was using HTML to create their own webpage; students were editing code provided to customise their own page to show their likes and interests.

The final activity was an excellent display of student’s creative skills and artistic mindsets. The task was to create animated GIFs from scratch. Miss Zaman who delivered the sessions was so impressed with the quality of their creative work
