Cyber Crime Workshop
Northumbria Police had two officers in school on Tuesday delivering Cyber-Crime Awareness Workshops to Year 7. Students spent time discussing the slippery slope leading to cyber-crime, from awareness of who they spend time talking to online, to the severity of their online behaviour. The Police offered real-life case studies to the students who then spent time discussing the actions of those involved. Students were surprised to hear how even dabbling in online gaming modifications can be considered minor criminal activity depending on their origins. Our Year 7 students responded extremely positively to the sessions and were very interested in hearing from the officers.
