Cracking Art with Sandhill Scholars

The Northern School of Art delivered a workshop on codebreaking in art for our scholars. Students were given a series of paintings and sculptures to evaluate, such as the ‘Venus of Wittenberg’ sculpture from the Stone Age, and were tasked with working out what different symbols meant. For example, they found out that oranges are a symbol of prosperity, and dogs symbolise faith and loyalty.
