Biodiversity, Campfires & Fun at Boggle Hole
Two weeks go saw the return of the annual Geography Residential Trip, this year we returned to YHA Boggle Hole.
The weather held off to enable us three days of spring sunshine. The first day students walked along the coastline learning about the history of smuggling in Robin Hoods Bay before completing an orienteering activity around the village. The evening was filled with campfires, stories, team building and 3 badly dancing teachers!
Day two started early with a good breakfast before heading out to help YHA staff maintain the woodland learning about the importance of woodland management in maintaining a healthy ecosystem. After lunch we headed down to the beach to look at the biodiversity of the rock pools and collected a range of fossils along the way. Day two ended in a scream as we toured the local area on a ghost walk, Mr Hodgson was definitely the most scared!
After students had packed ready for the return journey on day three we headed back to the beach with the sun shining to create some beach art focusing on “Generation Green” a revolution which encourages young people to be the voice of nature and the environment.
