An Angelic Art Visit

On a recent research trip to The Baltic, our GCSE Art students had the amazing opportunity to be present for the unveiling of The Knife Angel sculpture, which is temporarily on display by the Sage in Gateshead. The Knife Angel is a 27ft sculpture crafted out of 100,000 knives that have been surrendered to police forces across the country. It is also known as the National Monument Against Violence & Aggression. It was first unveiled in 2017 and has been touring the UK since.

Not only did our students get to witness this poignant piece of art being installed but they also had the unique opportunity to meet and speak with its creator, who was present for the unveiling, asking him lots of excellent questions about the artwork.
