SHV Remembers
Last week, we commemorated Remembrance Day, during which Miss. Jobes encouraged all students to reflect on the sacrifices made by ordinary people to protect our country and uphold our shared values. Our Head Students also addressed the occasion, speaking thoughtfully on the theme and reciting a poem. The service was made even more moving by a beautiful and poignant piano recital performed by one of our talented students. On Tuesday, the entire school joined the rest of the nation in observing a two-minute silence at 11 a.m. to mark Armistice Day.
Students also had the chance to share an hour in the life of a soldier from a Pals Battalion, Private Henry Fairhurst (played by a professional actor), he talked about his experience of life in the trenches. Students had to chat with Henry during the session and as a result developed their understanding of life at war.
