Celebrating International Sign Language Week
This week, our Deaf Base students visited the local Deaf Centre in Newcastle to celebrate International Sign Language Week alongside other Deaf students from across the North East.
Our students had a fantastic time collaborating with their peers to create a vibrant collage representing their Deaf identities. They also made individual clay leaves, each symbolising Deafness in a personal and meaningful way. These unique leaves will be displayed in various locations around Newcastle, alongside work from local artists and representations of diverse cultural identities.
It was an inspiring day filled with creativity, connection, and pride in Deaf culture. We’re proud of our students for their enthusiasm and engagement in such a meaningful event!
