Students participated in a range of activities during our second careers focus day last term to help them think about the preparation needed for their futures. Year 9 visited Newcastle University to see for themselves the wide range of subjects which can be studied at degree level. Students also learned how to plan for their future and manage a budget as well as how to protect their future hard-earned money with advice from the TSB Fraud Prevention Team. Physical well-being was an equally important part of the day, with students taking part in a Pilates class and learning how they need to take care of their own well-being for a healthy future as well as acquiring essential first aid skills.
Our students had the opportunity to take part in mock interviews and, equally as important, planned the journey to the workplace for the actual interview. There was also the chance to improve their employability skills with the science enterprise challenge which also tested their budgeting skills.
