Year 10 at University
On Wednesday all of our Year 10 students attended Sunderland University for the day. Three buses took us to St Peters Campus where we started the day with lectures about what university is and why people go to university. We spent part of the day looking around the campus at the facilities on offer, including the lecture theatres, library and seminar rooms. In addition to this we saw alternative spaces including a cinema for media students, a radio station and what was the most impressive for a lot of the students were the gaming rooms. You can study gaming at the university at degree level. The students took part in workshops about student unions and came up with their own society which people could join including ‘the box’ society. They also learnt about student finance and played budgeting games where a lot did show that they could look after money in a sensible way. The students represented school well and enjoyed their day. Well done Year 10.
