Every Day Counts: The Power of Attendance
This week, Miss Reay delivered a thought-provoking assembly titled “Every Moment Matters,” urging students to reflect on how school attendance directly impacts their future.
She explained that even a few missed days each year can lead to a drop of one or two grades—potentially costing up to £10,000 in future earnings. Students were asked to imagine what that amount could buy, making the message hit home.
Even at 95% attendance, over 50 lessons can be missed annually—leaving serious gaps in learning. The assembly’s takeaway was clear: every lesson matters, and being in school every day makes a real difference.
To emphasise the importance of good attendance, we rewarded selected Year 7 and 8 students with their very own Starbucks morning including chocolate and strawberry milkshakes with cream and toppings! There were also donuts, muffins and cookies to enjoy. Students were invited and recognised based upon their recent improved attendance.
