Diving Deep into STEM
On Tuesday Mrs McKinnell and Mr Anderson accompanied six Year 9 students to the Global Underwater Hub Regional Heat at Blyth; delivered by the Smallpeice Trust in partnership with Global Underwater Hub.
The students were taking part in a competition against seven other schools. During the competition they were given the challenge to design, build, program and market an underwater explorer. The students used the Lego Spike robotics kits to build their robot and complete coding challenges. They were also required to market their robot design and delivered a pitch in front of the judges and the other schools. Mrs McKinnell was very impressed with the Teamwork, Resilience and Leadership shown throughout the day.
Although we did not win it was a great experience for all involved.
