Campfire Connections
All Year 7 students had the opportunity to take part in a fully funded 2 day camping residential at Castle Howard in York as part of their transition. The aim of the 2 days was to build strong pastoral relationships with tutors, make new friends and hopefully ease some of those anxieties students can face when joining a new school. We also had a focus on character building as part of our character curriculum. Students had a great time building shelters, making animal traps (which they tried out on the teachers) and learning how to safely build camp fires so they could cook their tea. This was a great opportunity to not only develop their resilience and team building which will support them through their time at school and beyond, but also grow as individuals, trying new things and for some of them, spending their first night away from home.
