Welcome to The Sandhill View Academy website. It is a great privilege to be the Head of School in such a thriving community, where we believe Aspiration is the key to working together and being successful.
This is an exciting time for the Academy. Sandhill View is changing for the better. As a new leadership team, we are determined to raise standards in every area of school life whilst preserving the level of care which has long been a hallmark of the school. During this period of change it is crucial that we keep you informed and continue to maintain your support.
We became an Academy as part of the Southmoor Academy Trust on July 1st 2015. We will be making all of the changes necessary for improvement regardless of the status of the school. Over the past twelve months we have challenged every area of Academy life in our demand for improvement. This has included challenging the progress which our students are making, our examination results, the quality of our lessons, the behaviour of our students, the Academy uniform and the building itself. There have also been significant changes to staffing and leadership within the Academy over the past twelve months.
This is indeed a special place to learn. Visitors to our Academy speak of our distinct ethos with its strong sense of mutual support and loyalty. On arriving at Sandhill View, you immediately become aware of the excellent relationships evident between students and staff and the purposeful learning environment evident in lessons. With this foundation, our students have a strong platform to be confident, happy and are able to achieve their aspiration.
We have a very clear vision – all students are set challenging academic and personal targets and are given the support and encouragement to succeed to ensure that all of our students go out into the globally competitive world after leaving Year 11 with the skills, attributes and behaviours for twenty-first century living.
The environment we provide for this to take place in is one which is stimulating and exciting, whilst also recognising that education takes place both inside and outside the classroom and through a range of various learning styles.
Within our learning community, we welcome the parents and carers of our pupils, placing full value on the vital role they play in the education of their children. We believe that it is essential that an active partnership and effective collaboration between home and school is in place to make sure that individually, our learners are provided with a start to their life that they deserve.
I hope you find our website helpful and that it conveys our values and ethos.
